Richard Cloutier: Why is Everyone So Eager to Deal Ales Hemsky? - Maxbone
i dont know if it is just me, but it seems like the hemsky rumors have slowed down lately and not really being talked about, it might just be because of linsomania, nash and the SI swimsuit edition/kate upton but it doesnt seem like much talk about him is going on
besides ek has said nothing for a while |

It might be a seller's market, but no one is going to overpay for Hemsky. Contenders want more of a sure thing, even if its a grizzled vet on an expiring contract.
Wasted talent is not what teams will overpay for, especially if they seem disinterested. |

I would suggest Oilers be 50/50 to deal or resign Hemsky. If Oilers resign Hemsky, then they may choose to deal Omark or others that wish to make a jump to the NHL next season. If Hemsky likes a 2-3 year contract 4-4.5M, I would recommend Oilers keep him. Most other blogs suggest there must be enough cap space for the kids to be resigned towards the future. |

I would love to keep Hemsky at 9 mill over 3 years with some bonus (1 mill) based on points.
I say based on points and not games played because I think we have seen what happens to him this year, when he is thinking too much about getting injured.

If hemmer want to stay town he should put the puck in the net. He just doesn't look like the same player as two or three years ago, he looks slow and lazy.. |

I'll tell you why Rickard O'Cloutier
We as a species are hardwired to desire change.
From our women, to vehicles, to players on our team, we like to tinker and see different results.
Unless you are a team like Boston or Detroit...Funny how being a winner effects the desire for change.
And that is it in a nutshell. When things are not right, we seek change. Hemsky has been the target of Oil fans all year. He is an odd man out. So seeking a change in the rght direction, Oil fans see Hemsky as being part of the solution. It is believed at this point, moving him for change is better than keeping him.
That is my theory anyway. |

Totally agreed clouts. Don't give him away for nothing.
He is still fairly young and in his prime. He will bounce back.
If there isn't a young stud defenseman coming for ther return, resign him. |

Ellis for Hemsky would never happen, even in a sellers market (Ellis is already better, younger, more physical, not a UFA, healthier, and a D-man). And the reason you guys should trade Hemsky is because he is not really that good, has injury problems and tends to float around when in the lineup anyways, and yet you can get a good pick or two, maybe even a late first rounder from some sucker team. 1st rounders are gold to rebuilding teams like the Oilers, especially when you are already stocked up on talent and are seeing a draft loaded with d-men |

I totally agree that his play lately sucks. But I do feel with his situation.
I myself am in kinda the same situation. Been at my current career for 15 years. Last year they brought in a new manager (young little know-it-all) and me and him do not see eye to eye. So, to make a long story short, I am currently looking for a new job.
My reason for telling you this is I think Hemmer is kinda pissed off and unsure what the Oilers want from him or even if they want him to stay. When your mind is else where, kind of hard to concentrate on putting puck in the net. |

Ellis is overhyped. Better than Hemsky? Give me a break. Only a troll would argue that.
Otherwise, solid blog. Agree with you for the most part. |
